What is a Web App ?
A “web app” or web application is software available as a service (SaaS), which is a business model in which software is installed on remote servers rather than on the user’s machine. Customers do not pay a license fee for a version, but subscribe to a service to use online.
These web applications are hence tools that can be used at any time and from anywhere, with a computer, tablet or smartphone. No requirement to install any software, a connection and a web browser are enough to access your data that are hosted in the cloud.
What for ?
More and more, we are becoming aware of the value of information. The challenge today is to make the most of it. There are solutions to digitize work carried out in the field (topography, bathymetry, inspections, repairs, dredging etc…), and bring it to a new dimension through web applications: digital archiving, collaborative transversal exploitation and interactive 3D representation.
